After school Educator – Salt Lake County Overview

The Utah State University Extension Office of Salt Lake County is looking for qualified individuals to provide enriching after school clubs for students in Kearns and Magna, Utah. Clubs run 1.5 hours a day for 9‑10 week quarters, typically from 3:30 to 6:00 pm. Educators may teach multiple clubs a week and are expected to be willing to learn a variety of subject matters such as Sewing, STEM, Cake Decorating, Music, Art, etc.

Each club requires 2.5 hours of instruction per week.

• Plan and teach an engaging 1.5 hour club at least once a week for 8‑10 weeks, or multiple days a week for multiple club cycles.
• Maintain attendance records for students attending your club.
• Attend required training sessions.
• Participate in 4‑H After school events such as service projects and club showcases.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Work effectively with youth, families, and schools.
• Job offer contingent upon successful background check.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Self‑starter with good follow‑through.
• Ability to work with little supervision.

• Experience working with youth.
• Past experience in the 4‑H Program as a youth or volunteer.
• Skills related to STEM and other after school subject matter.

$16.00 per Hour

Incumbents may work indoor or outdoor environments, spend long periods seated or standing, occasionally lift up to 50 lb, and may be exposed to weather, heat, cold, noise, fumes, and other environmental risks as described above.
