OverviewSeeking applications for a part-time Lab Assistant to assist with general laboratory maintenance and support ongoing research projects along with post-docs, graduate students, and other researchers.
ResponsibilitiesPerform routine laboratory upkeep under the guidance of the PI and assist with molecular virology and cell culture tasks as needed. Working with DNA, RNA, and protein analysis, as well as cell culture.
Qualifications- Understanding of basic methods such as DNA cloning, RNA synthesis, RNA isolation, RT-qPCR, and western blotting
- Familiarity with basic techniques in microbiology and virology
- Ability to perform proper sterilization and maintain aseptic conditions
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people
- Ability to organize and maintain research data
$15.00/hour
ADAEmployees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and may lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Employees must adhere to safety precautions and may be required to use protective equipment.
Particularly, employees must follow the standard operating procedures for working in BSL-1 and BSL-2/ABSL-2 laboratories and wear the required personal protective equipment.
