Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineer, Electronics Engineer
Overview
The Electrical Engineer II (EE II) supports the design, testing, and validation of high power, high voltage power electronics systems in a collaborative engineering environment. This role is well suited for engineers with hands on experience in PCB design for power converters, laboratory testing of high energy systems, and the application of modern power electronics devices and topologies. The EE II works under technical guidance while executing well defined engineering tasks that contribute directly to research, development, and deployment activities.
In this position, the EE II supports the design and testing of AC/DC and DC/DC power converters, including schematic capture, PCB design and population, and test setup development. The role involves laboratory testing of systems operating above 20 kW and 1,000 V, with an emphasis on safe work practices, formal test procedures, and thorough documentation. The EE II applies simulation and analysis tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, LTSpice, PLECS, and ANSYS, and supports designs using wide bandgap devices (SiC, GaN), conventional magnetics, and power converter topologies such as DAB/DAB SRC, NPC rectifiers, and multi level or multi port converters, with attention to EMI/EMC considerations.
Collaboration with mechanical, controls, and embedded systems engineers is integral to the role. Experience or interest in digital control of power electronics, solid state transformer technologies, or wireless power transfer systems is highly valued.
