About the role

In this hands on role, you will play a key part in ensuring RACQ meets its taxation obligations with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) and relevant State Revenue Offices. You will provide high-quality taxation support across the RACQ Group, working collaboratively with internal stakeholders to deliver accurate, timely, and compliant tax outcomes.

Key responsibilities
  • Prepare, review, and manage accurate and timely tax reporting and compliance obligations, including BAS, IAS, income tax, tax effect accounting, fringe benefits tax, withholding tax, and related work papers.
  • Support RACQ’s tax governance framework, including tax risk management, internal controls, compliance testing, audit support, and liaising with the ATO, auditors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Assist to provide practical tax advice on significant business initiatives such as mergers and acquisitions, new products, organisational growth, and other strategic projects.
  • Partner with Finance and other stakeholders to deliver tax forecasts, budgets, insights, and strategies that support informed business decision making and reduce tax exposure.
  • Review and improve organisational processes to ensure ongoing compliance with taxation legislation, policies, and best practice internal control standards.
  • Maintain strong professional knowledge by monitoring legislative changes, promoting a culture of tax compliance, supporting internal stakeholders, and undertaking additional responsibilities as directed.
About you
  • Tertiary qualifications in accounting, finance, economics, or a related discipline, with CA or CPA qualification (or currently working towards).
  • 3–5 years’ relevant experience in industry and/or professional practice, supporting the taxation obligations of a complex organisation.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply Australian taxation legislation and accounting standards, with a strong understanding of accounting and tax concepts.
  • High level of financial literacy, critical thinking, and problem-solving capability, with an enquiring mindset to uncover insights and challenge issues when required.
  • Advanced Excel skills, with the ability to analyse large volumes of financial data, prepare accurate reports, and meet competing deadlines under pressure
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, combined with attention to detail, sound judgement, and the confidence to speak up when necessary
