Overview

The Up to 3 Early Intervention program in the Institute for Disability Research, Policy & Practice at Utah State University is an in-home pediatric program in northern Utah which strives to provide quality, evidence-based therapy services in a nurturing & supportive natural environment.

We are looking for a dynamic, creative, and committed Speech Language Pathologist to provide individual services to children under the age of 3 with developmental delays/disabilities and family coaching to their parents/caregivers.

This is a substitute, as needed PRN position.

Requires travel and services to families living in areas of Cache, Rich and Box Elder Counties. Services are provided in a combination of in-home and virtual evaluations and parent-training sessions.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate speech, language, cognitive-communication, social communication.
  • Administer a variety of norm-referenced and criterion-referenced assessments to analyze the nature and extent of speech, language and other impairments.
  • Coach parents and/or direct teach speech, language, cognitive-communication and social communication to toddlers and their families.
  • Develop and implement Individualized service plans.
  • Instruct parents in small groups to implement evidence-based practice.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines as needed.
  • Adhere to University travel and driving policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Communication Disorders and Certificate of Clinical Competence
    • Consideration may be given to those who are eligible for CFY supervision. The clinical fellowship experience must be completed within one year of hiring. Continued employment is contingent on satisfactory completion of the clinical fellowship and CCC award.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain state Speech Language Pathologist license(s) required by Utah Office of Occupational Licensing applicable to the profession.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year experience or educational equivalent evaluating and teaching young children with developmental delays or disabilities.
  • Fluency in a second language (Spanish).
  • Educational background to evaluate and treat oral motor and feeding disorders.
  • Baby Watch Early Intervention Credential.
