At Create Better Health Hub we work to strengthen food and nutrition security systems and empower Utahns by building networks, advancing community‑centered research, expanding the nutrition workforce, and delivering evidence‑based education. This internship lasts 8 weeks (20 hours per week) beginning May 18, 2026 and focuses on automating Microsoft workflows across the organization.
Responsibilities- Workflow Assessment & Process Mapping
- Identify and document existing administrative, programmatic, and communication workflows across the team
- Analyze current processes to identify inefficiencies, redundancies, and opportunities for automation
- Meet with staff to gather requirements and understand workflow needs
- Prioritize automation opportunities based on impact, feasibility, and time constraints
- Automation Development
- Design, build, and test automated workflows using Microsoft Power Automate
- Develop automations across Microsoft platforms, including Teams, SharePoint, Outlook, and Forms
- Build workflows such as:
- Request intake tracking and routing systems
- Approval workflows
- Automated notifications and reminders
- Document and file management automations
- Professional development attendance trackers
- Task and tracker integrations
- Troubleshoot and refine workflows to ensure reliability and usability
- System Implementation & Testing
- Pilot automations with staff and gather feedback
- Iterate and improve workflows based on user experience and performance
- Ensure automations are user‑friendly and aligned with team processes
- Support rollout of completed automations across the team
- Documentation & Training
- Develop clear, step‑by‑step documentation for each automation created
- Create simple user guides and reference materials for staff
- Provide basic training or walkthroughs to team members on how to use automated systems
- Ensure systems are sustainable and maintainable after internship completion
- Strategic Recommendations
- Develop a prioritized list of future automation opportunities
- Create a simple roadmap for continued automation and system improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve data tracking, reporting, and operational efficiency
- Recommend best practices for standardizing workflows across the organization
- Workstyle and Fit
- Self‑starter who works independently and takes initiative
- Interest in improving operational efficiency and reducing manual workload
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of program staff
- Technical and Analytical Skills
- Experience building or supporting automated workflows, especially with Power Automate (academic, professional, or personal projects)
- Ability to analyze workflows and identify automation opportunities
- Strong attention to detail in mapping multi‑step processes
- Ability to troubleshoot and debug automation errors or broken flows
- Logical, rule‑based decision‑making
- Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 programs, including Forms and Lists
- Familiarity with coordination and accessibility across Outlook, SharePoint, Power Automate, Teams, etc.
- Experience connecting workflows between platforms (e.g., email, forms, file storage, task tracking)
- Organization and Communication Skills
- Manage multiple tasks and prioritize in a fast‑paced environment
- Strong organizational skills, including documentation and tracking of processes
- Deliver projects from concept to implementation within a short timeframe (2 months)
- Document workflows and create simple instructions for non‑technical users
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Gather requirements from staff and translate them into technical solutions

Employees work indoors and are protected from weather or contaminants. The role requires sitting, repetitive hand motions, reaching with hands and arms, and may require lifting or moving up to 10 pounds.
