What You’ll Work On

The Product Manager, Data Acquisition Systems is the dedicated product owner for Campbell Scientific’s flagship CR data logger product line, including associated communications products and peripherals. This senior individual contributor role is responsible for the full lifecycle of one of the company’s most strategically important and technically complex product portfolios.

CR data loggers are the cornerstone of Campbell Scientific’s product offering, trusted by researchers, engineers, and scientists worldwide for precision data acquisition in demanding environments. The Product Manager owns the strategy, roadmap, and commercial performance of this portfolio — ensuring the CR line remains technically competitive, commercially viable, and closely aligned with the evolving needs of our global customer base.

This role requires a deep understanding of data acquisition hardware, embedded systems, communications technologies, and the technical requirements of customers in environmental monitoring, research, industrial, and infrastructure markets. The Product Manager works cross-functionally with engineering, firmware, software, sales, marketing, and operations to define, develop, launch, and manage products that set the standard for reliability, performance, and ease of use.

  • Own the vision, positioning, and multi-year roadmap for CR data loggers, communications products, and core peripherals.
  • Use market signals, competitive intel, and customer feedback to identify gaps, set priorities, and explain tradeoffs clearly.
  • Lead requirements for new data logger models, comms modules (cellular, satellite, RF, Ethernet, Wi‑Fi), and supporting accessories.
  • Deliver MRDs/PRDs/specs that engineering can execute against, and represent the product in reviews, prototypes, and release readiness.
  • Partner with firmware/software on user experience, interfaces, and data workflows, including CRBasic and PC-based support tools.
  • Manage prioritization and scope across development cycles to keep timelines realistic and outcomes aligned to customer value.
  • Build launch plans for new products and major updates, including messaging, pricing input, enablement, and sales tools.
  • Work with sales, distributors, and integrators to validate needs, support key opportunities, and grow target applications.
  • Track portfolio performance (revenue, units, margin, satisfaction, adoption) and drive improvements, cost-downs, and quality fixes.
  • Own lifecycle execution, including documentation upkeep and end-of-life plans with clear customer migration paths.
  • Coordinate with operations/supply chain/manufacturing on cost targets, component risk, and production planning.
  • Represent Campbell Scientific in customer forums and industry events to build credibility and keep product direction grounded.
What We’re Looking For

Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (or equivalent experience).

7+ years in product management, product development, or technical marketing—ideally with instrumentation, embedded systems, or DAQ hardware.
