Position: Technical Coordinator Sr.

Technical Coordinator Senior

This full-time, non-exempt position is dedicated to maintaining and troubleshooting classroom technology to keep classrooms working for faculty and students. The position will be housed in the Center for Instructional Design and Innovation Department Classroom Support Team on the Utah State University Logan Campus. This position will report to the CIDI Assistant Director. Typical work hours are from 7:00 A.M.–4:00 P.M. There may be some additional evenings and weekend hours, when needed, to meet the position's responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Classroom Support (45%):

  • Troubleshoot issues that are brought to the attention of the CIDI Support team.
  • Assure high-quality customer service and prompt response to USU faculty, students, administrators, and staff with classroom technology support.

Classroom Maintenance (35%):

  • Repair and replace equipment, as necessary.
  • Responsible for maintaining classroom technology equipment on the Logan campus.
  • Work with CIDI full-time and part-time student team to perform routine preventative maintenance and repair tasks of classroom technologies.

Phone Support (10%):

  • Answer phones to provide faculty with remote support

Classroom Technology Design and Evaluation (5%):

  • Use the latest best practices, market research, and USU standards to help evaluate the effectiveness of the classroom technology in the teaching and learning environment.
  • Contribute advanced knowledge as part of the statewide tech team to develop and follow the USU classroom technology standards.

Other duties as assigned (5%)

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree plus four years of experience; or a bachelor's degree in an IT related field plus two years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education plus experience is required.
  • Experience in troubleshooting audio/video equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems, work well under pressure, manage multiple/routine tasks simultaneously, take initiative within project scope, maintain confidentiality, and work with little supervision
  • Strong, established track record of exceptional customer service, training, and technology support
  • Demonstrated capacity for exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills (verbal and written)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in audio/video equipment installation
  • Successful work experience with video conferencing classroom design, technology use, and IT support
  • Crestron control programming
  • Experience performing classroom installations and maintenance
  • Knowledge of USU policies and procedures

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Attention to detail and task completion
  • Excellent PC and Mac computer skills (data entry, Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet)
  • Willingness to undertake any necessary training needed to perform job functions or to enhance performance
  • Ability to learn new systems
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with other technical staff in a team environment
  • Ability to train others, both non-technical end-users and technical staff
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, prioritize, and take action
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Able and willing to travel, as needed
