Your day-to-day as a Director of Development Services

As the Director of Development Services at Cache County Corp, your day-to-day responsibilities will involve overseeing and coordinating development projects from concept to execution. You will lead a diverse team, ensuring that planning and building inspections meet regulatory requirements while fostering innovative solutions. Your role will include reviewing development proposals, applications, site plans, conditional use permits, re‑zoning petitions, site inspections, providing guidance to stakeholders, and collaborating with various departments to streamline processes.

You will develop, organize, and facilitate ongoing comprehensive planning processes and procedures for current and long‑range needs, and participate in the development and maintenance of the county's general plan. You can expect a structured work schedule, Monday through Friday, with the possibility of attending evening meetings to engage with elected officials and the community to address development‑related inquiries.

Regular interactions with local officials, developers, and residents will be essential to promote transparency and collaboration in our initiatives. Your leadership will empower your team to strive for excellence in every project, ensuring that Cache County’s development goals are met efficiently and effectively.

A Master’s degree in Urban or Rural Planning, Public Administration, or a closely related field is essential for effectively navigating the complexities of development projects. Your eight years of progressively responsible experience should include direct involvement in planning and regulatory processes, as well as at least 2 years in a supervisory position.

Strong leadership skills are crucial for fostering a high-performance culture within your team and motivating them to achieve common goals. Proficiency in relevant software and tools, including project management and GIS applications, will enable you to analyze data and streamline procedures efficiently.

Additionally, excellent communication and interpersonal skills will facilitate collaboration with stakeholders, community members, and government officials, ensuring that development objectives are met successfully.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:

  • Master's degree in Urban or Rural Planning, Public Administration, or a closely related field.
  • Eight years of progressively responsible experience performing the described duties and two years in a supervisory role.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
