Precision Tool & Die Maker — EDM, CNC & Prototyping

Overview

Construct, maintain, repair, modify, or revise all types of Ceramic Compacting tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures for prototype, experimental, or production applications. Apply proper methods required for Tool & Die Work and utilize standard tool‑room equipment and visual measurement tools.

• Work with minimal supervision and follow established procedures for tool & die construction.
• Analyze tool and die construction, determine rework procedures, and understand G.D&T tolerances.
• Plan and layout work from blueprints, sketches, diagrams, or oral instructions using shop mathematics and trigonometry.
• Collaborate with Engineering on new tooling design and understand compacting press operations.
• Use precision measurement equipment to inspect and measure tooling components to assure conformance to prescribed tolerances.
• Operate and maintain EDM machines, complex electrodes, and other hand and power tools used in compacting tooling.
• Perform heat‑treating operations, brazing, silver soldering, and hand polishing of carbide tooling to specified finishes.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area and practice safe work habits.
• Use designated computer programs to document changes, create CNC programs, and work with Engineering via the Internal ECR process.
• Participate in or lead continuous improvement projects with Engineering, Maintenance, Production, and Setup teams.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

High school graduation required. Vocational or technical training desired. Journey machinist level experience desired and at least four years of tool & die work experience.

• Congenial interaction with co‑workers.
• Fluent speaking and clear, concise written communication in English.
• Good writing skills for recording and documenting changes or revisions.

Lathe, CNC milling machines, surface grinder, conventional & CNC EDM, heat‑treating oven, hydraulic press, drill press, and band saw.

Machine shop in a temperature‑regulated environment; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Hiring Range: $23.67 – $28.85 per hour.
