Material Handler
Job Description
Assist with filling and/or packaging orders from the warehouse in preparation for mailing and shipment. Assist with continuous improvement efforts.
- Pick or package a variety of printed materials or related items using a variety of packing procedures and techniques.
- Follow detailed procedures to perform routine packing work. Assemble finished products into boxes or containers for shipping.
- Operate computers and relevant software.
- Perform related tasks such as placing labels on packages and handling boxes for final product. Ensure accurate shipping information is attached, and packages are shipped according to specified schedule.
- Place, arrange, mark, seal, and tag items in bundles, on pallets and/or in containers, bins, and bulk storage.
- Meet established productivity and quality standards.
- Identify potential issues and involve department lead and/or management to determine an appropriate solution.
- Count and sort various product items.
- May feed, remove, flex, jog, and stack printed sheets, folded signatures, labels or other in‑process product to and from the equipment in the area assigned.
- May assist with special projects or more complex customer orders.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- 1+ year of relevant working experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment required.
- Must have the ability to read and interpret job specifications and identify the correct parts for fulfilling customer orders.
- Must have very good oral and written communication skills sufficient to explain departmental procedures and/or methods when completing assignments.
- Basic knowledge of routine packing procedures, techniques, equipment and general warehouse procedures.
- Able to stock, move, arrange, and rotate items in accordance with operating instructions or under guidance of a higher‑level employee.
- Able to complete appropriate forms relating to stock description, quantity, unit of issue, and the labeling requirements for incoming and outgoing materials.
- Skill in assembling standard shipping boxes and packing contents securely.
- Basic skill in the use of manual dollies, pallet jacks, carts or hand trucks and hand tools used in material handling tasks such as tape fasteners and related equipment.
- Basic arithmetic to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
- Must be willing to flex schedule to meet the needs of production, including working overtime or a different shift if needed.
Shift: 10 hour A Shift – Tuesday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Pay: $15.31 per hour (national range $15.31 – $16.50 per hour, may vary by location, education, skills, experience, performance, shift, and location).
Compensation may also include participation in a bonus, commission or incentive program.
