Job Description & How to Apply Below
We are hiring a Community Awareness Educator to help CAPSA engage and educate the community through presentations, youth leadership, outreach events, and prevention initiatives. This role combines public education with meaningful relationship-building and provides an opportunity to work directly with youth, community partners, schools, and local organizations.
A significant part of this role is serving as the lead advisor for CAPSA Youth Council, supporting young people as they develop leadership skills, participate in prevention efforts, and help create safer, healthier communities. The role also coordinates community, business, and adult education presentations, supports community events and outreach, and collaborates on youth-focused social media and prevention campaigns.
This position is well-suited for someone who is organized, creative, comfortable speaking in front of groups, and energized by working with both youth and adults. The ideal candidate enjoys building relationships, coordinating moving parts, and creating engaging experiences that connect people to prevention education and community resources.
What the role involves:
Serving as the lead advisor for CAPSA Youth Council, including supporting youth leadership, coordinating meetings and events, tracking participation, and maintaining ongoing communication with students and advisors
Delivering engaging prevention and community education presentations to youth, adults, businesses, and community groups
Building and maintaining relationships with schools, community organizations, financial institutions, and other local partners
Coordinating CAPSA's participation in community events, outreach opportunities, and prevention initiatives
Supporting the planning and implementation of Friends Night Out, CAPSA's annual community event for youth
Coordinating Financial Empowerment presentations for youth and adults in partnership with community organizations and financial experts
Managing event logistics, materials, volunteers, and follow-up to ensure CAPSA is represented effectively in the community
Co-managing CAPSA Teens social media content with a focus on youth-centered prevention education and awareness
Tracking program participation, service hours, community engagement, and other outcomes to support program and grant goals
Maintaining timely communication, documentation, scheduling, and follow-up across multiple projects and responsibilities
The schedule requires flexibility to meet school and community needs, including occasional evening and weekend events. This role also requires strong organization and independent planning, as responsibilities span ongoing youth programming, presentations, community events, and long-term prevention projects.
This role offers the opportunity to make an impact at both the individual and community level. Whether you are helping a young person find their voice through Youth Council, leading a conversation about healthy relationships, connecting families with resources at a community event, or equipping adults with the knowledge to recognize and prevent violence, your work contributes to creating safer, healthier communities.
If you are motivated by purpose-driven work, enjoy connecting with people, and want a role where you can see the impact of your work in the community, this is a position where your work will matter.
