Position Summary:

Lee’s Marketplace Bakery Clerks assist in the total operation of the Bakery Department. Responsibilities include packaging, labeling, displaying, and verifying the quality of baked goods, engaging with guests in person or through digital communication, and maintaining high standards of guest service. Bakery clerks learn the wide variety of bakery options and other specialty food products to create an engaging shopping experience.

• Help with the production, development, preparation, and maintenance of bakery items in accordance with recipes and quality standards.
• Assist in displaying and restocking bakery products, ensuring shelves and cases are filled, fresh, rotated, faced, and cleaned.
• Maintain accurate food inventories.
• Learn about, and educate customers about, Lee’s Marketplace bakery products and services.
• Maintain training and certification by actively attending in‑person trainings and utilizing digital training platforms.
• Process and complete orders through digital and in‑person order processing.
• Perform additional responsibilities as needed.

• Greet and assist guests in a friendly and courteous manner.
• Provide knowledgeable answers to guest inquiries.
• Promote a high level of morale within the department and store.
• Take orders accurately and finalize purchases promptly.
• Use problem‑solving skills to find the best resolution in line with Lee’s Way.
• Assist customers with using the Lee’s Marketplace website.

• Stock shelves and maintain displays according to store standards.
• Ensure product freshness by checking quality, rotating stock, and checking expiration dates.
• Assist in unloading deliveries and organizing stock rooms as needed.
• Package and label products using a computer program.
• Maintain proper freshness, pricing, code‑dating, and merchandising in compliance with company policies and procedures.

• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Follow all safety and sanitation procedures.
• Report safety hazards or equipment issues to management.
• Adhere to all food safety and sanitation regulations.
• Contribute to cleaning responsibilities in the department as directed.

• Operate cash registers and handle transactions accurately.
• Follow store policies on returns, exchanges, and refunds.
• Ensure the security of cash and other financial transactions.

• Work cooperatively with team members to achieve store goals.
• Participate in team meetings and training sessions.
• Assist other departments as needed.
• Work in a fast‑paced, sometimes crowded sales environment with tact and patience.
• Ensure products are sold well before expiration.
• Attend departmental, store, and company meetings as required.
• Follow all company policies, procedures, and the Team Member Handbook.
• Promote a harassment‑free environment and report potential harmful situations to management.

• Age Requirement: 18 Years or older.
• Food Handler’s Permit required (may be obtained after hire).

• Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Willingness to work varied hours according to store needs.

• Ability to stand, walk, twist, sit, and bend for extended periods.
• Lift and carry items up to 50 pounds.
• Manual dexterity for handling small objects and operating equipment.
• Repetitive use of hands & arms to push, pull, lift, reach, grip, and balance.
• Occasional stoop, crouch, kneel, or crawl.
• Prolonged standing and walking.
• Navigate all areas of the store, including ladders or step stools.
