Overview
Responsible for the general maintenance, preventive maintenance, and general upkeep of the Housing Facilities Buildings. Oversee planning and preparation, and completion of work orders to ensure all buildings are safe, reliable, and well maintained.
Responsibilities- Organize and oversee the day-to-day maintenance requests of assigned buildings to ensure all equipment is in good working condition and that work orders are handled timely and professionally.
- Conduct field checks of buildings to identify and analyze corrective and preventive maintenance modifications; diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test, and make adjustments.
- Ensure safety procedures are applied for boilers, electrical, plumbing, pumps, furnaces, appliances, etc. Keep equipment, vehicles, tools, and work areas clean and safe; use hand tools safely, wear safety glasses, and be knowledgeable of MSDS sheets.
- Perform minor electrical maintenance including replacement or repair of fixtures, switches, outlets, bulbs, tubes, ballast, sockets, fuses, minor appliances, cords, and use appropriate hand, power, and specialty tools.
- Perform minor plumbing maintenance such as replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging drains, trenching and laying new lines, replacing drain hoses on washers, etc.; keep work areas clean and organized.
- Operate and perform routine maintenance and repairs on HVAC equipment and related systems.
- Create and maintain a positive teamwork environment to optimize department results and objectives.
- Support a positive relationship with residents, Residence Life Staff, and other teams and departments on campus to ensure good customer service and that needs are met.
- Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
- Minimum of 2 years directly related work experience in maintenance work or related trade.
- Valid Utah driver's license for driving university vehicles and transporting materials.

This position requires moderate physical effort. Employees must have sufficient strength to perform duties and responsibilities of the position, including lifting up to 25 pounds, walking and standing. Employees must adhere to safety precautions and may be required to use protective equipment.
