Responsibilities & Duties
  • Implement the client's support strategies and other curricula in an effective and creative manner.
  • Responsible for the welfare of clients assigned.
  • Completion of all required paperwork and training requirements, i.e., CPR-FA, SOAR, Training modules and driver training.
  • Team Player.
  • Specific Duties
    • Implement the client's support strategies and other curricula in an effective and creative manner.
    • Participate in the development of the client’s support strategies. Teach the consumer specific work skills, job responsibilities and quality of work according to the employer’s expectation/standards. This expectation is for job try sites, as well as, individual/enclave placements.
    • Coordinate/educate employers, supervisors, co-workers, in effective methods of interaction with the employee(s).
    • Teach consumer appropriate social skills/interaction and how to work together at the work site.
    • Assist the clients to participate in activities and community outings.
    • Conduct ongoing reviews of the supports provided to the clients assigned and report ideas, progress, and concerns to your supervisor.
    • Support the person for inclusion and integration into their community consistent with the HCBS settings rule.
    • Be responsible for the supervision of all assigned clients at all times.
    • Assist with the personal needs of the clients (e.g. personal hygiene, toileting needs, accidents, etc.).
    • Support the client during the lunch hour with nutritional and eating needs as applicable. Teach eating manners/social skills as appropriate during this time.
    • In employment settings, facilitate and encourage co-workers and management to support integration activities, such as break time, work parties, company athletic teams, etc.
    • Provide support on all placements; meet with manager/supervisor at least once per week, retrain areas of concern on job, social skills, etc.
    • Teach and reinforce safety skills for each person’s job site.
    • Be aware of and support the clients as concerns arise. Follow-up with concerns or recommendations as needed.
    • Assist clients in boarding/exiting the bus at the designated times. Provide supervision until the van aide or driver arrives as applicable.
    Completion of Required Paperwork
    • Take effective and specific progress notes as specified in the client’s support strategies. Data should be taken immediately following the support for each assigned person, crew, or job try site.
    • Complete incident reports as necessary and forward the original document to your supervisor within the required time frames (before the end of the shift).
    • Assist in the completion of assessments as needed.
    Team Player
    • Attend staff meetings/trainings as required for the position. All training and modules must be completed and submitted either before or on the due date given. Failure to meet training requirements may result in a work suspension.
    • Request time off from supervisor via CETC’s Human resource software. In the event of an unscheduled time off, contact your supervisor by 8:15 am on said day. Refer to time off policy.
    • Engage in positive communication and develop a positive and professional working relationship with the clients, parents, employers, other providers, staff, and funding agencies.
    • Driver-eligible staff will drive CETC vans for community activities and will be required to assist in driving CETC vans (some exclusions will apply). No cell phone or ear bud usage of any kind will be permitted while operating any CETC vehicle or personal vehicle while clocked in.

    Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent, some college experience preferred.
  • Experience working with people of varied levels of ability. Experience in positive behavior supports helpful but not necessary.
  • Must be able to provide detailed instructions, teach various skills and concepts, collect data, evaluate needs and skills, and complete written documentation.
  • Must possess the following qualities: self-starter, innovative, open to new ideas, team player, good communication skills with co-workers, families, employers & community professionals.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50+ lbs.
  • Must meet all driver eligibility requirements including drug test requirements.
