The Health & Wellness Prevention Coordinator is a 12‑month position beginning July 15, 2026, renewable through June 30, 2029. The role supports coordination and implementation of the Be Epic, Escape the Vape program in partnership with USU Extension and HEART faculty in Grand County, and administers a local grant focused on preventing youth vaping and e‑cigarette use in Moab and Grand County.
Employment through June 30, 2029, is contingent upon satisfactory performance and continued grant funding.
- Support and provide implementation of vape/e‑cigarette prevention trainings for youth, parents, and teachers.
- Plan, organize, present, promote, and supervise special events or outreach activities such as education events, teacher trainings, and youth trainings.
- Modify and support development of prevention events.
- Establish working relationships with key partners, schools, and prevention coalitions.
- Monitor local budget provided for trainings and other grant activities.
- Promote trainings and events through social media and other marketing tools; create vape prevention social media content.
- Schedule meetings, arrange travel, and coordinate community and teacher development activities for youth and related functions.
- Assist with technical writing, report preparation, financial statements, and program status documentation for management and the sponsor agency.
- Assist with data entry, analysis, and reporting.
- Engage in evidence‑based prevention trainings, professional development, and other opportunities as available.
- Support the civil rights mandate of Utah State University Extension.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Two years of experience; or an associate degree in social work, psychology, public health, education, project management, or a related field.
- Experience recruiting, supervising, and working with youth.
- Demonstrated ability to gather, interpret, and integrate evaluation data.
- Basic computer skills – Word, Excel, and Internet.
- Reliable transportation to and from work sites.
- Flexible schedule; some weekend and evening work required.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Public Health, Health Education and Promotion, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
- Leadership and program implementation experience in a health‑related field.
- Experience with grant or governmental program implementation, finances, and reporting.
- Experience and skills in social media promotion, online marketing, and relationship building.
- Background and skill in data use and/or collection.
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently.
- Ability to lead group planning, discussions, and public presentations.
- Understanding of public health initiatives, regulations, trends, and emerging issues.
- Ability to set, track, and accomplish realistic goals within strict timelines.
- Punctuality and attendance at required programs, meetings, and events.
The position is performed in a combination of office, remote, school, and community settings. The role requires regular travel within Grand County to attend meetings, trainings, and community events, with occasional evening or weekend work. Physical requirements include prolonged sitting and computer use, standing for presentations, lifting and transporting program materials (up to approximately 25 pounds), and setting up educational displays or event spaces.
Mental requirements demand strong organizational and communication skills, the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, adapt to changing priorities, work both independently and collaboratively, and maintain professionalism while interacting with youth, parents, educators, community partners, and university personnel.
