Description
Under general supervision, operates heavy equipment (i.e. wheel loader, truck loader, compactor, dump truck and various other equipment) related to the daily operations of the landfill.

- Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
- Must possess a valid Utah Commercial Driver's License (CDL) at a level appropriate to the equipment operated (Class
A). - Experience in customer service.
- Must have six (6) months of experience operating heavy equipment.
- Computer experience desirable.
- Knowledge of hazards and applicable safety precautions for equipment operation is required.
- Must be able to operate controls of vehicle, repeatedly using wrists and hands.
- Ability to work in extreme hot and cold environmental conditions.
- Must be capable of lifting in excess of 75 pounds without adverse consequences.
- Must be able to climb in and out of vehicles repeatedly.
- Manage green waste materials, keep equipment maintained, create compost product, build roads, water and sweep roads.
- Placement, compaction, and daily coverage of solid waste; loading of finished products into public or private vehicles and answering customer questions about product usage.
- Loading of transfer trucks and other operations within the transfer station. Transport of solid waste from Transfer Station to the North Valley Landfill.
- Knowledge of landfill and composting process helpful.
- Knowledge of hazards and applicable safety precautions for heavy equipment operation.
- Knowledge of equipment maintenance, capabilities, limitations and safe operations.
- Able to work in extreme hot, cold, wet, and dusty conditions.
- Must be capable of lifting 75 lbs. without adverse consequences.
- Ability to establish satisfactory working relationship with fellow employees and the general public.
