Job Description UH:
Anesthesiology - Full-Time, Day Shift

• The Anesthesia Technician-Lead is certified through the American Society of Anesthesiology Technologists and Technicians (ASATT) and serves as a prominent member of the anesthesia care team.
• Make daily anesthesia tech assignments to assist the licensed anesthesia provider in clinical settings where anesthesia is administered at all sites licensed under Loma Linda University Medical Center and Loma Linda University Children s Hospital.
• Review the operating room schedule and Non-Operating Room Anesthesia (NORA) procedure schedule to ensure coverage in a fast-paced environment with multiple schedule changes throughout the day.
• Serve as a role model and provide positive influence to initiate and facilitate change.
• Prepare appropriate instruments, equipment and supplies for the administration of each age-specific type of anesthesia.
• Demonstrate practical knowledge and expertise in all areas of anesthesia (general anesthesia, procedure-related sedation, and regional techniques).
• Assist with operating room turnover and patient flow.
• Serve as a resource to anesthesia technicians and demonstrate innovative problem-solving skills.
• Achieve and maintain a trusting and credible working relationship with anesthesiologists, nurse anesthetists, anesthesia techs and operating room administration and staff.
• Perform other duties as needed.

• High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
• Minimum two years of experience as an anesthesia technician required.

• In-depth knowledge of anesthesia technology and technician duties and scope of practice required.
• Knowledge of related healthcare regulations and survey process required.
• Ability to apply theoretical concepts to anesthesia technology and technician practice and continually expand knowledge base and clinical skills.
• Exhibits professional behavior at all times.
• Able to read and write legibly in English (Spanish preferred) with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, electronic medical record, electronic event reporting program).
• Relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; collaborate; accept direction; think critically; work independently with minimal supervision; perform basic math functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; problem solve; recall information with accuracy.
• Pay close attention to detail; distinguish colors and smells as necessary to position; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place/patient care; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position.

• American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians Certification required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association required.
