SUPPLY TECHNICIAN

Job SummaryThe Supply Technician provides logistical, inventory, and supply distribution support to the Logistics Service at the VA Loma Linda Healthcare System. This role is critical to ensuring the timely availability, integrity, and cleanliness of medical and non‑medical supplies that support patient care and clinical operations. Technicians perform hands‑on supply distribution and inventory control tasks in accordance with Veterans Health Administration (VHA) policies, local Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Joint Commission standards.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities Supply Distribution- Maintain appropriate stock levels at primary and secondary inventory locations for clinical and administrative services
- Deliver supplies accurately and in a timely manner to wards, clinics, and other designated secondary locations
- Prepare, stock, and maintain specialty carts as required
- Interact with clinical and administrative customers to identify and resolve supply issues, escalating unresolved matters to supervisors or Inventory Management Specialists
- Clean and organize assigned secondary storage areas, including shelves and bins, in accordance with aseptic principles, SOPs, and Joint Commission standards
- Support wall‑to‑wall and periodic inventory counts
- Perform additional logistics‑related duties as assigned within the Logistics Service
- Receive supplies and materials into the VA Health Care System and supported catchment area
- Unpack, inspect, and properly store items from shipping cartons in primary inventory areas according to established guidelines
- Ensure sterility, integrity, and proper handling of medical supplies and materials
- Communicate with clinical personnel and department leadership regarding new or modified supplies and available inventory resources
- Perform other inventory‑related duties as assigned
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull supplies weighing up to 40 pounds
, with assistance provided for heavier items - Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive motions throughout the workday
- Ability to safely maneuver carts and materials within clinical and storage areas
- Ability to see, hear, and communicate effectively in a healthcare environment
- Work is performed within an active healthcare setting, including warehouses, supply rooms, clinics, and patient care areas
- Exposure to standard hospital conditions, including noise, temperature variations, and frequent interaction with clinical staff
- Must comply with all VHA safety, infection control, smoke‑free, and security policies
- Technicians must wear visible identification at all times and adhere to VA access, escort, and parking requirements
- Possession of weapons or contraband is strictly prohibited
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Four years experience
- Practical knowledge of standard supply management, inventory control, and material handling procedures
- Prior experience in healthcare, warehouse, logistics, or supply operations preferred
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work independently with minimal supervision
- Valid driver’s license may be required for certain positions
NOTE:
Please be advised that there are three SHIFTS available –
- Five (5) technicians assigned to day shift: 6:30 am to 3:00 pm
- One (1) technician assigned to swing shift 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm
- One (1) technician assigned to graveyard shift 11:00 pm to 7:30 am
$36.74/hour
