Bookkeeper

Description We are looking for a skilled Bookkeeper to support day-to-day accounting operations for a Contract position based in Lombard, Illinois. This role is ideal for someone who is highly organized, comfortable working independently, and committed to maintaining accurate financial records across a variety of transactional activities. The Bookkeeper will contribute to core accounting support functions, including reconciliations, payables processing, collections follow-up, and expense review, while helping keep financial information current and well organized.

Responsibilities:

- Reconcile bank activity thoroughly and investigate discrepancies to ensure accounts remain accurate and current.

- Manage weekly accounts payable tasks, including reviewing incoming invoices, assigning proper coding, and entering details into the accounting system.

- Process a steady volume of vendor invoices with close attention to accuracy, timeliness, and supporting documentation.

- Review and approve employee expense submissions to confirm compliance with company policies and correct documentation.

- Support accounts receivable and collections efforts by sending invoice copies, responding to payment-related questions, and following up on outstanding balances or disputes.

- Assist with tax-related administrative work by entering required information and preparing documentation requested for tax preparation support.

- Maintain organized financial records and accounting files to support efficient daily operations and audit readiness.

- Coordinate multiple bookkeeping priorities independently, ensuring deadlines are met and routine accounting activities are completed consistently. Requirements - At least 7 years of experience in bookkeeping or a closely related accounting position.

- Hands-on proficiency with Quick Books and confidence working within accounting software on a daily basis.

- Strong working knowledge of accounts payable procedures, accounts receivable support, and bank reconciliation practices.

- Demonstrated accuracy with data entry and transaction processing in a fast-paced environment.

- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage recurring responsibilities independently.

- Strong attention to detail and sound judgment when reviewing financial information and documentation.

- Effective written and verbal communication skills for coordinating with vendors, customers, and internal team members.
