Do you love sunshine, laughter and making a difference? We are seeking enthusiastic, responsible and energetic individuals to join our team as Summer Camp Counselors. As a counselor, you'll lead exciting activities in a safe, fun and engaging environment for campers while fostering personal growth, teamwork, and lifelong memories. Under the direction and supervision of the Camp Supervisor and Program Manager, Day Camp Counselors are responsible for planning, leading, and supervising a variety of age-appropriate daily activities while maintaining a fun and safe environment for campers. Activities may include games, arts and crafts, outdoor adventures, swimming, field trips, etc. Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating respect, responsibility and enthusiasm.
Previous experience and a desire to interact with school‑age children is preferred with the capacity to provide quality customer service. Ability to communicate effectively with both children and adults while working collaboratively with co‑workers and supervisors is essential. Respond calmly and appropriately to behavioral challenges and emergencies. Additional duties may include camp set up and breakdown, camper check‑in and check‑out, administering first‑aid, cleaning, and other duties as assigned.
Counselors must commit to the entire season and attend mandatory orientation, training and staff meetings. This is an at‑will position.
Must be available Monday‑Friday for assigned shifts between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm. Staff are typically scheduled to work 23‑40 hours per week. Opportunities for additional work at the end of the season for those interested and available.
Qualifications and Training Expectations- Outgoing and friendly personality with the desire to serve, engage and educate children.
- Previous camp, babysitting, or related experience working with children is highly desired.
- Customer service focused with previous experience is preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively with children and adults both verbally and in writing.
- Effective problem‑solving skills with a strong sense of safety and the capacity to act calmly and effectively under pressure in difficult or emergency situations.
- Dependable and flexible with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to maintain discretion with regard to confidential matters and/or information.
- Have or become certified in CPR/AED/First Aid within one month of hire.
- Required to obtain and maintain Mandated Reporter Training, Sexual Harassment & Abuse Prevention Training as well as safety training as required.
