Position Summary- 10-month Administrator for the school year assigned to Glenbard East H.S.
- Current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an endorsement as a General Administration, and/or Principal
- Prior teaching and administrator experience
- Dynamic leadership qualities that build positive relationships with both students and staff
- Good communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Successful completion of ISBE Teacher Evaluator Training and Modules, preferred
- Knowledge and practices as it relates to supporting all students' ability to learn
- Direct report to the Assistant Principal for Student Services
STANDARD #1:
Living a Mission and Vision Focused on Results
The dean works with the staff and community to build a shared mission, and vision of high expectations that ensure all students are on the path to college and/or career readiness and hold staff accountable for results.
- Assist with the development of the Student Handbook.
- Work continually to improve protocols and processes related to discipline and attendance.
- Assist with student growth.
Leading and Managing Systems Change
The dean will create and implement systems to ensure a safe, orderly, and productive environment for student and adult learning for the purpose of achieving school and district improvement targets.
- Supervise the issuance and use of student hall lockers, parking permits and visitors' passes.
- Coordinate restorative intervention assignments (RIA), behavior intervention assignments (BIA), detentions and supervised study halls.
- Assist with the approval of pay vouchers connected with student services.
- Serve as a member of the Pupil Personnel team. Effectively lead problem solving PPS team meetings.
Improving Teaching and Learning
The dean works with the school staff and community to implement a research-based framework for effective teaching and learning that is refined continuously to improve instruction for all students.
- Select, assign, supervise and evaluate para-professionals.
- Evaluate licensed staff.
- Assist the efforts of teachers in maintaining appropriate student behavior in compliance with the policies and regulations of the Building and Board of Education (District).
Building and Maintaining Collaborative Relationships
The dean creates a collaborative school community where the school staff, students, families, and community interact regularly and share ownership for the success of the school.
- Communicate with parents, students and teachers regarding student discipline and attendance.
- Assist and consult with local community agencies connected with student services.
- Assist with supervision and coordination of free and reduced lunch and waiver applications.
- Assist with supervision and coordination of Prudential Security personnel and AFSCME staff.
Leading with Integrity and Professionalism
The dean works with the school staff and community to create a positive learning environment by ensuring equity, fulfilling professional responsibilities with honesty and integrity, and modeling professional behavior.
- Assist with designing programs to meet the needs of low-income students.
- Assist with designing programs that support multi-cultures and student diversity.
- Lead and design projects as needed to assist students.
Creating and Sustaining a Culture of High Expectations
The dean works with staff and community to build a culture of high expectations and aspirations for every student by setting clear staff and student expectations for positive learning behaviors and by focusing on student's social-emotional learning.
- Supervise school events.
- Facilitate PBIS and other climate related programs.
- Assist at-risk students and advocate for their academic success.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as correspondence, surveys and electronic media.
- Ability to write professional communications.
- Ability to present information effectively and to respond to questions from individuals and groups.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and community members.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in written form.
- Ability to complete mathematical operations and apply concepts of basic mathematics.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
