  • Teaching Load: 3 classes + Resource – German 3H (2 classes), German 4H/AP (1 class), and Ram Time.

    Professional Educator License (registered in DuPage County) and endorsement for H.S. in the subject identified.
Role Summary

The qualified candidate for the long-term substitute role will perform duties and responsibilities to ensure that learning keeps moving forward during a teacher's extended absence.

Qualifications
  • Professional educator's license in the subject area identified.
  • Knowledge of best practices as it relates to supporting all students' ability to learn.
  • Strong communications skills.
  • Honors or AP experience (preferred).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Instruct students based on subject- or level-specific curriculum; grade assignments and maintain attendance.
  • Supplement lesson plans using interactive technology as appropriate.
  • Supervise and ensure safety of students during classroom hours.
  • Meet with Department Chair regularly and seek mentoring from departmental staff.
  • Maintain the highest level of ethical and professional demeanor with students and staff consistent with district policies.
  • May need to participate in parent‑teacher conferences and/or school‑sponsored professional development.
  • Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policy.
  • Maintain student confidentiality.
  • May perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as correspondence, surveys, and electronic media.
  • Ability to write professional communications.
  • Ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from individuals and groups.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and community members.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in written form.
  • Ability to complete mathematical operations and apply concepts of basic mathematics.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to maintain current job skills as directed, especially in technology-related activities.
  • Ability to perform essential duties with an awareness of school district requirements and School Board policies.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Required to sit and talk or hear regularly; required to stand, walk, operate duplicating machines and computer equipment; reach with hands and arms; and repeat actions with the same hand, arm or finger motion such as when typing.
  • Vision abilities required include close vision and ability to adjust focus, and the ability to withstand long‑term use of video display terminals (VDT).
  • May occasionally lift up to 30 pounds such as reference books.
  • Noise level is usually moderate.
  • Pace of work tasks is considered fast.
  • Work generally conducted at one site, but may occasionally attend meetings, conferences, or workshops at other sites as assigned.
