Geotechnical Project Engineer

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering and consulting services for a broad array of projects and clients.
• Perform and/or lead field investigations, engineering analysis, calculations, and recommendations.
• Design and develop plans and specifications.
• Observe and inspect construction for compliance with plans and specifications.
• Write, prepare, and review related engineering reports.
• Prepare proposals and cost estimates; track and evaluate project progress and budgets; recommend changes.
• Research and resolve design and construction problems.
• Assign, review, and evaluate laboratory or field data for inclusion in reports.
• Follow safety rules, guidelines, and standards; participate in pre-task planning; report safety issues to management.
• Lead continuous quality monitoring and improvement and promote quality standards and practices.
• Manage detailed phases of moderately sized and complex projects.
• Independently perform varied projects or selected segments of larger projects.
• Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate detailed phases of assigned project work.
• Work with senior-level project managers on more complex and larger projects.
• Make design, engineering, and construction recommendations, adaptations, and modifications.
• Perform quality-control reviews of proposals written by others.
• Serve as a technical adviser to junior-level project team members.
• Interact directly with clients and project teams regarding scope, progress, findings, and recommendations.
• Participate in marketing, sales, and business development.
• Supervise graduate, field, and project engineering staff.
• Work under the supervision of a Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer.
• Begin the documented mentoring and application process for Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer certification.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• Minimum 5-8 years’ experience.
• A valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history may be required.
• Ability to apply sound engineering principles and communicate complex engineering issues and concepts to technical and non-technical clients and project teams.
• Ability to work under the supervision of a Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer.
• Begin the documented mentoring and application process for Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer certification.

Demonstrates expertise in engineering analysis, project management, and client interaction, with a focus on quality control and compliance. Capable of leading field investigations and providing technical guidance while mentoring junior staff.
