Salary Range: $19.00 - $26.00, per hour, based on skill and experience level.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Anesthesia Technician assists licensed anesthesia providers in the acquisition, preparation and application of the equipment and supplies required for the administration of anesthesia. The Anesthesia Technician performs duties under the direct supervision of a licensed anesthesia provider and/or registered nurse per standards of practice.
EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS: Maintains BLS certification. Effective English communication skills, basic computer knowledge, additional languages preferred.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Adheres to Center for Surgery Policies- Adheres to Center dress code and PPE requirements.
- Maintains confidentiality of department, employee and patient information.
- Adjusts hours as needed.
- Adheres to absenteeism policy.
- Completes annual competency requirements.
- Attends staff meetings and reviews missed minutes.
- Participates in skills labs and in-services.
- Follows infection control, safety and hand hygiene policies.
- Assists with patient transfer and positioning.
- Places monitoring equipment on patients.
- Ensures anesthesia equipment is available and operational.
- Assists anesthesiologist with intubation and extubation.
- Cleans and maintains anesthesia equipment.
- Maintains inventory levels of anesthesia-related supplies and drugs.
- Assists with room turnover.
- Changes anesthesia machine tanks as needed.
- Performs errands and other duties as assigned.
- Collaborates with management, staff, surgeons and anesthesiologists.
- Applies principles of asepsis to provide optimum patient care.
- Demonstrates correct and safe use of equipment.
- Reports equipment failure to Manager/Administrator.
- Uses free time efficiently to assist team members and restock supplies.
- Communicates appropriately with managers, team members, physicians and staff.
- Uses chain of command appropriately.
- Adapts positively to change.
- Demonstrates professional behavior at all times.
- Gives and receives constructive criticism professionally.
- Assists in orientation of new staff members.
- Works independently while following established policies.
