Position Overview
Reporting to the Owner, the Sales Manager will be responsible for leading, developing, and growing a high-performing residential (B2C) HVAC sales team.
The ideal leader brings deep expertise in residential sales, strong training, coaching, and mentorship skills, and a values-oriented leadership style rooted in integrity, service, and excellence. This opportunity is for a hands-on leader who thrives in the field and works alongside their team.
Our client provides services to customers throughout the Western Chicago Suburbs. This is a full-time role based out of their office, with travel in the field as needed to support the team.
Key Responsibilities- Inspire, lead, and hold accountable a high-performing residential HVAC sales team to achieve and exceed revenue, conversion, margin, and customer satisfaction goals.
- Set aggressive sales plans and propose strategic expansions aligned with company growth objectives.
- Establish clear expectations and drive consistent accountability through daily/weekly KPI tracking.
- Conduct ride-alongs, in-home observations, deal reviews, and active participation in the sales process to improve close rates and customer experience.
- Ensure every customer interaction delivers a best-in-class satisfaction experience, resulting in positive feedback and long-term trust.
- Hire, train, and motivate a team of In-Home Sales Professionals.
- Build and maintain a structured coaching rhythm for new and tenured consultants, including onboarding and ramp process for new hires.
- Conduct daily and weekly sales training meetings focused on consultative selling, professionalism, and customer-first solutions.
- Perform regular performance evaluations, manage Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs), and coach direct reports to sustained success.
- Partner with financing vendors and train the sales team in effectively presenting and closing with financing options.
- Own sales lead coordination and ensure effective distribution and follow-up within the sales department.
- Work closely with the Installation and Operations teams to ensure seamless sales-to-install handoffs and successful project execution.
- Collaborate directly with the Owner to manage departmental P&L expectations and profitability targets.
- Serve as a key member of the Leadership Team, contributing to strategic direction, market growth, and increased market share.
- Promote a disciplined, no-excuses, high-integrity environment rooted in excellence and stewardship.
- Champion company values and mission in daily leadership and decision-making.
- 3+ years of sales leadership / sales management experience (B2C).
- 7+ years of overall sales experience, preferably in residential, commission-driven environments.
- Strong understanding of consultative in-home selling, customer experience standards, and sales process execution.
- HVAC, building materials, and/or home services experience a plus.
- Hands-on leadership style: visible in the field, engaged in deals, present with the team.
Our client offers a competitive salary and benefits package commensurate with experience. Target base salary is $95,000 - $130,000 + performance-based bonus opportunity.
