Deputy Village Manager
The Village of Lombard (pop. 44,476), located approximately 20 miles west of downtown Chicago in DuPage County, is seeking an experienced municipal leader to serve as Deputy Village Manager. Lombard is a full-service municipality governed by a Village President and Board of Trustees and led by a professional Village Manager. The Village has approximately 275 employees and a budget of $123 million (all funds) for 2026.
Reporting to the Village Manager, the Deputy Village Manager is a key member of the executive leadership team and works closely with department heads to support organizational performance and service delivery. The role provides executive-level administrative and operational support, coordinates cross-departmental initiatives, and assists in addressing complex operational and policy matters.
The Deputy oversees the Village Manager’s Office, including communications and public engagement, special events, risk management, customer service operations, licensing and records administration functions, assigned human services programs, and related administrative services.
A bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, political science, or a closely related field is required; a master’s degree is preferred. Candidates should possess five to seven years of progressively responsible municipal experience, including supervisory or management responsibilities. A valid Illinois driver’s license is required.
The salary range is $151,889 to $206,525, with starting salary determined based on qualifications and experience within the established range.
