, is currently seeking a
Production Clerk to support our
Alsip, IL corrugated manufacturing facility. The Production Clerk
2nd shift works with the first shift Production Coordinator, Shipping and Receiving Supervisor and Floor Supervisors to coordinate the receiving, inventory and maintenance of tooling and other materials used in production, including but not limited to print plates, cutting dies, labels, mylars and ink. This role assists in the safe production of quality products in a clean environment by keeping materials workflow in the plant organized.

This role also assists in the shipping of products on second shift as needed, including overseeing the loading of trucks and completing the appropriate documentation.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Work with Shipping and Production to receive, inspect and control print plates, cutting dies, labels, ink and other materials used in production.
  • Inspect tooling and other materials at time of receipt. Communicate receipt of tooling or other materials to the appropriate departments; note any issues, shortages or deficiencies.
  • Obtain pound-offs or mylars for approval.
  • Monitor the performance of new materials and report deficiencies.
  • Maintain and keep storage areas clean and organized.
  • Maintain proper levels of inventory for materials and related supplies.
  • Work with production to adhere to schedule and proactively stage materials for upcoming orders at the machines.
  • Inspect and return materials to proper storage after use.
  • Record and maintain tooling locations and inventories, physically in the plant and electronically in the system of record. Purge tooling as needed.
  • Coordinate and facilitate training in production on the repairs and safe handling of cutting dies and print plates.
  • Obtain samples for Customer Service as needed.
  • Oversee any incoming or outgoing shipping activities, including verification and record-keeping functions, to ensure proper material handling, accuracy, completeness and satisfactory condition of shipments, and compliance with shipping specifications.
  • Complete efficient documentation of incoming items, outgoing shipping notices and bills of lading.
  • Keep appropriate management informed of problems or situations that may affect the performance of the plant.
  • Ability to work overtime as the job requires.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations, including federal and/or state required environmental systems, OSHA Safety and Health rules, and standard operating procedures.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
  • HS Diploma (or GED) or higher.
  • Minimum three years corrugated industry experience.
  • Knowledge of various paperboard stocks, board grade combinations, POP displays and printing processes.
  • Knowledge of products, machine limitations, and costing variables.
REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Strong team player; safety and quality conscious.
  • Good communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Knowledge of computers and various production software systems.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to operate a forklift and scissor lift.
