Precision Dimensional Inspector — Aerospace Machining Picture your day starting at a clean, climate-controlled inspection cell. You open the traveler, scan the material certs, and compare the work order to customer specifications. With a set of calibrated micrometers and a height gage at your side, you dive into first article inspections on a newly released CNC-turned component destined for a highly regulated industry.

That’s your rhythm here—owning quality from first article to final release.

What you’ll do Execute first article, in-process, and final inspections on precision-machined parts.

Interpret engineering drawings and blueprints, applying GD&T to confirm conformance.

Measure critical features using micrometers, calipers, height gages, bore gages, indicators, thread and plug gages, and other precision tools.

Validate dimensions, tolerances, surface finish, and all customer-driven requirements.

Create thorough inspection reports and maintain accurate quality records.

Verify travelers, work orders, material certifications, and supporting documentation.

Identify and document nonconforming material; communicate findings to production and quality leadership.

Participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions to eliminate recurrence.

Collaborate closely with CNC machinists, manufacturing engineers, programmers, and quality engineers to resolve issues quickly.

Ensure adherence to AS9100, customer specifications, and internal procedures.

Stay mindful of gage calibration status and follow established quality processes.

Drive continuous improvement to enhance product quality and reduce defects.

Maintain a tidy, organized, and safe inspection workspace.

What you bring

High school diploma or equivalent; technical coursework a plus.
2+ years of quality inspection experience in precision machining or manufacturing.

Fluent reading of complex mechanical drawings and blueprints.

Solid command of GD&T and dimensional inspection practices.

Hands-on proficiency with micrometers, calipers, height and bore gages, indicators, and thread/plug gages.

Proven experience with first article, in-process, and final inspections.

Comfort with inspection documentation and nonconformance reporting.

Meticulous attention to detail, strong organization, and a quality-first mindset.

Basic computer skills to manage inspection records and quality documentation.

Ability to work independently while partnering effectively across production and engineering.

Preferred Background inspecting aerospace or other ultra-precision components.

Exposure to AS9100 and/or ISO 9001 quality management systems.

Experience operating a CMM (running existing programs and reviewing reports).Understanding of CNC milling, turning, grinding, or related precision processes.

Participation in continuous improvement and root cause investigations.

Physical aspects of the role Standing and walking for extended periods.

Lifting and moving parts up to 35 lbs.

Frequent fine motor work requiring visual precision.

Working safely in a production environment.
