DC Garage Door & Services, Inc. is looking for an experienced Garage Door Installer & Service Technician to join our growing, family-owned company in Lombard, IL. This is not an entry-level position. A minimum of 3 years of professional garage door installation, service, and repair experience is required. The right technician will be comfortable working independently in the field and confidently diagnosing, servicing, repairing, and installing residential and light commercial garage door and opener systems.
We’re looking for someone who knows the trade, takes pride in doing quality work, communicates professionally with customers, is dependable, and wants to build a long-term career with a company that values their experience and is continuing to grow.
We offer $25–$30/hour based on experience, plus overtime opportunities, commissions, performance bonuses, and customer tips.
Benefits include health insurance, paid vacation and sick time, a gym membership, and a primarily Monday–Friday schedule with occasional Saturdays.
Responsibilities- Include yourself in all workplace activities and adhere to all rules and regulations
- Attend appointments within the window that has been given to the client
- Create notes, quotes, and invoices using software
- Provide a complete evaluation and precise diagnosis of any issues with the current system, after which present the customer with their options
- Check the location and measure openings for installation when working on larger jobs
- Install residential and light commercial garage doors
- Install garage door opener systems
- Diagnose garage door and opener problems
- Perform garage door and opener repairs
- Replace springs, cables, rollers, hinges, bearings, and other door components
- Perform preventative maintenance and safety inspections
- Identify worn, damaged, or unsafe components
- Clearly explain findings and recommended repairs to customers
- Complete job documentation, photos and service notes
- Maintain a clean and professional work area
- Properly care for company vehicles, tools and equipment
- Provide professional, respectful customer service
- Ability to use a measuring tape, as well as proficiency in math and problem-solving, are essential
- Working knowledge of electrical wiring and connections
- Effective communication, listening, and teamwork skills are necessary
- Competent in the use of both power tools and hand tools
- You must have excellent customer service skills for this position
- Minimum 3 years of professional garage door installation and service/repair experience
- Strong understanding of residential garage door systems
- Garage door opener installation and troubleshooting experience
- Ability to diagnose problems rather than simply replace parts
- Ability to safely perform spring, cable, and hardware repairs
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field
- Strong attention to detail
- Professional communication skills
- Dependable and punctual
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of garage door installation and service work
- Experience with residential and light commercial garage door systems, Lift Master, Genie, Clopay, and other major industry brands is a plus
$25 - $30 hourly
