Personal Financial Counselor, Vandenberg Space Force , CA

Responsibilities

• Provide personal financial counseling services to military service members and their families at assigned military installations.
• Conduct one‑on‑one counseling sessions, briefings, presentations, and provide referral resources outside counseling sessions.
• Develop and distribute informational financial materials tailored to service members and families.
• Co‑ordinate, publicize, and deliver Personal Financial Management classes/workshops covering the military lifecycle, including arrival, pre‑ and post‑deployment, and other career events.
• Offer age‑appropriate classes or seminars as requested by the installation.
• Utilize virtual counseling or other electronic communication modes (web‑based, secure chat, video‑conference) when authorized by the OSD FINRED Program Office.
• Manage duty‑to‑warn situations according to Department of Defense protocol.
• Communicate with installation leadership and participate in regular individual and group supervision to share trends and issues.
• Participate in regular in‑services, training, quality‑improvement committees, or other contract activities as assigned.
• Perform additional duties assigned by leadership that align with the intent of the position.

• Bachelor’s degree required; an associate degree plus four years of experience or a high school diploma plus six years of experience may be considered.
• Minimum of 3 years of financial counseling experience.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and speak fluent English.
• Must be able to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier2 investigation.
• Must be able to pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
• Must hold at least one of the following certifications:
  Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).
• If required by the contract, must be bilingual in English and Spanish.

• Salary Range: $58,440 – $93,500 (annual)
