HOME/SCHOOL COMMUNITY LIAISON-BILINGUAL
The Lompoc Unified School District is hiring a Home/School Community Liaison-Bilingual for current vacancies at Los Berros (3.0 hrs/day) and Cabrillo High School (4.0 hrs/day).
Responsibilities- Provide support to the instructional program; give information on programs and services for students, families, school and district activities.
- Assist students, staff, teachers, parents, and community members with information, forms, transportation, and technical explanations.
- Communicate on behalf of the school regarding attendance, homework, paperwork, and related matters to foster ongoing partnership.
- Coordinate and conduct home visits and parent meetings, assess needs, improve communication, and refer families to agencies.
- Translate communications between staff and limited or non‑English speaking parents; serve as interpreter during conferences and meetings.
- Identify and support homeless students and youth in foster care, ensuring mandated services and reviewing housing questionnaires.
- Organize school and parent activities such as clubs, meetings, conferences, and community events.
- Operate office equipment and maintain computer systems, data, and records.
- Prepare documents and reports—registrations, activity logs, communications, etc.
- Support administrators and the English Language Advisory Committee (ELAC) by organizing meetings and preparing agendas.
- Participate in committees, workshops, and continuing education about program guidelines.
- High‑school graduation or equivalent and one year of general clerical experience, including work with students or families in community service programs.
- Valid California Class C driver’s license.
- Fluency in English and a designated second language (Spanish).
- Basic interviewing and advising techniques.
- Excellent oral and written communication in both languages.
- Knowledge of diverse student backgrounds, office procedures, and public relations.
- Computer proficiency and record‑keeping skills.
All new employees must be fingerprinted and may be required to undergo a medical examination regarding tuberculosis and other health standards.
