Harris is seeking a highly skilled and versatile Facilities Technician to support the Spaceport Systems Integration (SSI) team at Vandenberg Space Force Base. This role is pivotal in operating and maintaining the Integrated Processing Facility (IPF), an ISO Class 7 cleanroom environment critical for processing space hardware in preparation for launches. You will handle a broad spectrum of responsibilities, serving as the go‑to expert for preventative maintenance, repairs, installations, and troubleshooting across mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, pneumatic, and cleanroom systems to ensure uninterrupted, safe, and efficient facility operations in a high‑stakes aerospace setting.

The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic, mission‑critical environment, demonstrating initiative, problem‑solving prowess, and a commitment to excellence that minimizes downtime and supports seamless spacecraft processing.

Essential Functions:
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, repairs, and emergency interventions on facility equipment, including steam/hot water boilers, dehumidifiers, chillers, pumps, compressed air/pneumatic systems, electrical panels, wiring, circuits, lighting, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Conduct inspections of buildings, equipment, and systems, identifying potential issues before they impact operations.
  • Calibrate, maintain, and repair cleanroom‑specific equipment such as HVAC units, HEPA filters, dehumidifiers, air handlers, desiccant dryers, pneumatic actuators, moisture/particulate filtration, and digital control systems.
  • Assist with contamination control and cleanroom operations, including routine cleaning, monitoring environmental parameters (e.g., temperature, humidity, particulate levels), inspections, audits, enforcing gowning procedures and protocols, and ensuring adherence to ISO standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in the installation, modification, upgrade, and qualification of new systems and equipment, including electrical installations and integrations.
  • Maintain detailed records and documentation, including logs, work orders, purchase requisitions, and inventory for tools, spares, and supplies.
  • Operating and maintaining equipment such as forklifts, cranes, manlifts, and power tools (e.g., drills, saws, grinders).
  • Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests, participating in on‑call rotations and extended hours to maintain 24/7 facility readiness.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with engineering, operations, and other departments to meet customer requirements, resolve issues during payload processing, and provide technical updates as a customer interface.
  • Promote a collaborative team culture by demonstrating respect, sharing knowledge, contributing to effective work practices, and providing hands‑on training to staff on cleanroom best practices, system operations, and safety protocols.
  • Ensure full compliance with safety regulations, building codes, OSHA guidelines, and environmental policies, while supporting a neat, clean, and comfortable work environment through proactive housekeeping.
