Crouch Neighbourhood Resource Centre is a long-standing charitable organization serving the Hamilton Road community. We provide inclusive programs that support children, youth, and families experiencing poverty, food insecurity, housing instability, and limited access to mental wellness supports. Our After school Program offers a safe, structured, and welcoming space for children ages 4–12 to learn, play, and grow.
As part of our Resilient Minds:
Strengthening Youth Wellness initiative, we are expanding our mental and physical wellness supports to better respond to increasing emotional and social-emotional needs among program participants.
Develop and deliver weekly wellness-focused activities (emotional regulation, coping skills, conflict resolution, social-emotional learning, mindfulness, stretching, movement breaks, basic physical wellness games, creative expression, etc.).
Integrate mental and physical wellness practices into daily routines, transitions, outdoor play, and group activities.
Facilitate small group discussions, creative projects, Social-Emotional Learning lessons and recreation-based wellness activities that promote both mental and physical well-being.
Staff Collaboration & Capacity BuildingProvide coaching, modelling, and simple training to staff and placement students on wellness strategies, movement-based regulation tools, and trauma-informed approaches.
Support program staff with tools for responding to stress, anxiety, challenging feelings, and physical restlessness or sensory needs in children.
Participant Support- Build positive relationships with children ages 4–12, promoting trust, confidence, resilience, healthy physical activity habits, and social inclusion.
- Adapt activities to meet diverse needs, including children experiencing stress, anxiety, social-emotional challenges, or needing additional support to engage in movement or regulation activities.
Develop related attendance tracking, progress monitoring, and mental/physical wellness assessment tools.
Document program delivery, observations, and participant progress to support evaluation and funding requirements.
QualificationsEducation or training in Child & Youth Care, Social Work, Psychology, Education, Recreation Therapy, or related fields (students welcome).
Experience supporting children with social-emotional or behavioural needs in group settings.
Knowledge of emotional regulation strategies, trauma-informed practices, and strengths-based, child-centred approaches.
Ability to plan and facilitate engaging, age-appropriate activities.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Ability to work collaboratively within a small team.
Additional assetsExperience with after-school programs or community-based programming.
Certifications such as Mental Health First Aid.
CompensationContract Position for 38 weeks during school months only, January to June and September to December 2026, with potential for full-time summer employment.
