The starting hourly rate for this position is between $21.50 and $24.00 per hour based on a 37.5 hour work week and commensurate with candidate experience and education. Summer at Perimeter is busy and we need your help. We have summer student positions available throughout the Institute, running from May 4, 2026 to August 21, 2026.
Video Creator and Editor Summer Student is a highly organized and creative role dedicated to all things video creating and editing. This individual will create videos regarding Perimeter’s culture, research, training and outreach work, repurpose already existing video content, write copy and post on Perimeter’s social media channels.
What you will do:
- Video Editing: Mine the PIRSA repository (Perimeter’s seminar and video archive) for high quality, accessible content, extracting Perimeter’s ‘greatest hits’ and putting together short videos highlighting Perimeter’s best scientific content
- Using other existing video resources, create short videos for You Tube, web and socials, as well as for internal communications channels
- Video Creation, taking direction from Perimeter’s Digital Marketing Team: Create short videos about life and culture at Perimeter, including those about Perimeter researchers and staff
- Write copy and share videos to Perimeter's social media channels, including Bluesky, Facebook, Instagram, Linked In, You Tube and Tik Tok
- Create short videos about Perimeter research, training and outreach work
What you need to have:
- Working towards a degree in visual or digital arts, audio-visual technology or another related field, or equivalent experience
- Proven digital video creation and editing experience, including animation and sound editing
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to story tell
- A detailed-oriented individual with demonstrated organizational skills
