SENIOR ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST – PRIVATE ENTITIES - 12 months TERM Role

Who is a Senior Accounting Specialist – Private Entities?

The Senior Accounting Specialist - Private Entities is responsible for end-to-end accounting for a portfolio of business entities associated with Good Life Group’s Founder, from initial transaction processing through to the preparation of complete financial statements for internal and external use. This role requires managing complex and varied financial activities, including investments, intercompany transactions, foreign currency accounting, and payroll, while ensuring accurate, timely, and audit-ready financial records.

What

will you be doing?

Full-cycle accounting and financial statement preparation:

  • Performs complete accounting for assigned entities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and period-end close.
  • Maintains accurate and complete general ledgers and supporting subledgers.
  • Prepares monthly and annual financial statements suitable for management, external advisors, and other third parties.
  • Manages accounting for:
    Investments (varied asset types and structures) / Intercompany transactions and balances / Foreign currency transactions and revaluation.
  • Ensures all transactions are recorded in accordance with appropriate accounting standards and internal policies.
  • Supports and coordinates external reporting requirements, including audits and tax preparation.

Cash, payroll, and disbursement management:

  • Records and reconciles payroll accounting for a small group of employees.
  • Manages accounts payable and bill payments, ensuring appropriate approvals and documentation.
  • Monitors cash activity and maintains accurate bank and investment reconciliations.

Data, systems, and process management:

  • Works with data structures across systems to ensure integrity and completeness of financial data.
  • Utilizes basic database concepts and SQL queries to extract, validate, and analyze financial information.
  • Identifies and implements process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
  • Supports system integrations and data imports related to financial reporting.
  • Supports other Accounting Department projects and processes as needed.
Do you have what it takes?
  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3 years’ experience in full-cycle accounting
  • CPA Designation or equivalent experience
  • Strong proficiency in:
    Full-cycle accounting and financial statement preparation / Complex transaction handling (investments, intercompany, FX)
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with accounting systems
  • Understanding of data structures and relationships
  • Writing and using basic SQL queries for data extraction and analysis
  • Ability to analyze information and make decisions based on available data
  • Ability to manage and effectively prioritize multiple commitments
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to convey information

Compensation:

It is expected that the selected candidate will start at a base salary of $65,000. This position is eligible for bonuses in addition to the base salary. The annual range of expected compensation for the position is $65,000 - $87,000 determined by performance, time in the position and variable compensation earned.
