We are seeking a Health and Safety Supervisor reporting to the People and Culture Manager. The Health & Safety Supervisor provides leadership, oversight, and hands‑on support to ensure the highest standards of occupational health and safety performance across all divisions. This role drives compliance, promotes a proactive safety culture, and ensures alignment with regulatory requirements, company and ISO 45001 standards.

Reporting directly to the People and Culture Manager, this role provides supervision to the health and safety team, while partnering closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Site Supervisors and Senior leadership to integrate safety into all workplaces.

Environment

This position is based in London, Ontario, and requires regular travel to project sites and worksites across Southwestern Ontario. The Supervisor will collaborate closely with the Operations, Estimating, and Management teams to ensure that health and safety requirements are effectively supported and clearly understood. The role involves a combination of office‑based responsibilities and on‑site activities throughout the year, depending on operational needs.

Work will occur in diverse physical and environmental conditions, requiring adaptability. You will have the ability to work the occasional evenings and weekends. Your support during incident investigations may require you to work outside of your normal work hours. This is a non‑unionized role.

How You Will Make An IMPACT Leadership & Safety Culture
  • Champion a strong safety‑first culture across all projects, worksites, shops, and facilities.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to employees on hazard recognition and risk mitigation.
  • Lead by example in promoting safe work practices and environmental responsibility.
  • Support management in achieving safety performance targets.
  • Act as a resource and support to the J‑AAR divisions.
  • Assist in representing management in matters of health and safety with the government, health and safety associations and other outside agencies and organizations.
Program Development & Implementation
  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Assist and help maintain the ISO 45001 management system, including audits, documentation, corrective actions, and management reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act, and all applicable regulations and review amendments and best practices to optimize occupational health and safety programs.
  • Develop and update the Health and Safety Manual, including all associated policies and procedures.
Oversight & Risk Management
  • Organize and monitor regular inspections of projects, mines, equipment shops, offices, and other work locations.
  • Identify hazards, implement corrective actions, and follow up to ensure timely resolution.
  • Monitor subcontractor compliance with company and regulatory safety standards.
  • Review and approve site‑specific safety documentation prior to project mobilization.
Incident Management & Investigation
  • Lead incident investigations, including root cause analysis and development of corrective/preventative actions.
  • Ensure accurate reporting, documentation, and regulatory notification as required.
  • Track incident trends and provide recommendations for prevention strategies.
  • Assist with any WSIB claims, return to work programs and injury case management.
Training & Development
  • Plan, coordinate, and deliver health and safety training programs (e.g., orientations, supervisor training).
