Position overview

Provide facility maintenance support to the McCormick Canada manufacturing facilities, with primary focus on the London, Ontario site and assistance to other facilities as required. The role is responsible for performing troubleshooting, repairs, preventive maintenance, and inspections of building systems to ensure safe and reliable facility operations. This position works closely with the Facilities Manager to coordinate contractor activities and maintain a safe workplace.

Key responsibilities:

  • Complete breakdown repairs, preventive maintenance (PM) activities, and regular building infrastructure repairs, including assessment of priorities and coordination of external contractors
  • Complete work orders and Root Cause Failure Analyses (RCFA), ensure timely follow-up, and maintain accurate documentation in CMMS and SAP systems.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair building services equipment, including HVAC systems, air compressors/driers, boilers, plumbing, electrical systems, and fire protection systems.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to implement and support capital projects.
  • Liaise with Managers, Crew Leaders, and operations staff to ensure maintenance activities are executed effectively and on schedule.
  • Identify, develop, and implement continuous improvement initiatives related to facility maintenance.
  • On-call support as necessary.

Required qualifications:

  • Proof of completed apprenticeship in trade
  • Licensed HVAC Technician (Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic - 313A)
  • Gas Fitter G1 license is required
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience in facility maintenance with demonstrated proficiency in HVAC systems, compressors, boilers, plumbing, electrical systems, and fire systems.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to liaise effectively with managers, crew leaders, and operations teams.
  • Strong teamwork and mentoring skills in a High Performance Organization (HPO) environment

Other skills and competencies:

  • Good working knowledge of the Ontario Fire Code, TSSA regulations, Occupational Health and Safety Act, CFIA regulations, and HACCP.
  • Project planning and project management skills.
  • Good computer skills, including CMMS, AutoCAD, MS Word, Excel, and SAP.
  • Up to date with innovations in facility maintenance.
  • Understanding of key manufacturing performance metrics.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work under stressful situations with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to upgrade technical skills as required.
