Senior Geotechnical Engineer

Are you an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer looking for a role that combines technical leadership, project responsibility and genuine long-term career progression? This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established geotechnical engineering team based in Enfield, delivering a wide range of site investigation projects across London, the South of England and further afield. You will play a key role in managing projects, supporting junior engineers and providing technical expertise on challenging developments across multiple sectors.

As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will be given the autonomy to lead investigations, manage teams and contribute to the continued success of a highly respected engineering consultancy.

About the Company

My client is a specialist engineering consultancy providing expert advice on ground conditions for projects across a diverse range of sectors. Their portfolio includes commercial and residential developments, healthcare, education, energy, infrastructure, highways, defence, flood alleviation and community projects.

Working within a well-established geotechnical division, you will join a collaborative team of experienced engineers delivering high-quality geotechnical and geoenvironmental solutions to clients throughout the UK.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Managing and delivering geotechnical and geoenvironmental site investigation projects.
  • Planning, specifying and supervising ground investigations across a range of sectors.
  • Overseeing the operation, management and interpretation of geotechnical and geoenvironmental investigations.
  • Supervising engineers, graduates, assistants and field technicians.
  • Acting as a line manager and supporting the professional development of junior team members.
  • Undertaking site visits and supervising trial pits, boreholes and other ground investigation techniques.
  • Interpreting ground investigation data and producing technically robust reports.
  • Providing foundation recommendations and geotechnical design advice.
  • Undertaking soil, groundwater and ground gas risk assessments.
  • Liaising with clients, contractors, regulators and other project stakeholders.
  • Supporting the successful delivery of projects to programme, budget and quality requirements.
What You’ll Need
  • A degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, Geoenvironmental Engineering, Geology, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrable experience in geotechnical site investigation and contaminated land assessments.
  • Strong knowledge of soil mechanics and geotechnical principles.
  • Experience providing foundation recommendations and ground-related advice.
  • Experience undertaking and supervising trial pits, boreholes and other field investigation techniques.
  • Knowledge of soil, groundwater and ground gas risk assessments.
  • Previous experience supervising engineers, graduates and field technicians.
  • Line management experience and the ability to mentor and develop junior staff.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A proactive attitude and enthusiasm for developing new skills.
  • A full UK driving licence.
Salary & Benefits
  • Salary £45,000 - £55,000 per year dependent on experience.
