Position: New Truck Sales Rep - Municipal

If so, McMahon Truck Centers wants you on our Columbus sales team.

As a Municipal Truck Sales Representative, you’ll represent leading brands — Volvo, Mack, and Hino Trucks — while working with a family-owned company that has proudly served the trucking industry for generations. We’re seeking a motivated, professional salesperson who can deliver exceptional customer service to municipalities, grow government accounts, and expand our presence in the public sector marketplace.

What You’ll Do Prospect and develop new business with municipalities, counties, public works departments, sanitation fleets, and other government agencies while expanding relationships with existing municipal customers.

Gain a deep understanding of each municipality’s fleet operations, challenges (budget cycles, regulatory compliance, sustainability goals, and operational demands), and goals, offering tailored solutions including refuse trucks, dump trucks, utility trucks, snow & ice equipment, and other specialized municipal vehicles from McMahon and our OEM partners.

Navigate government procurement processes, including responding to RFPs, formal bids, and detailed specifications, while using CRM tools and dealership processes to manage leads, track activity, and drive consistent results.

Collaborate with internal teams, OEM partners, and municipal stakeholders to provide seamless service, spec-compliant trucks, demos, and ongoing fleet support.

Manage the full sales cycle: from initial bid/proposal and specification review through order, customization for municipal requirements, on-time delivery, and post-sale support.

What We’re Looking For Proven success in sales, with municipal, government, or public-sector truck/heavy equipment sales experience strongly preferred.

A customer-first mindset with strong relationship-building skills, particularly with public works directors, fleet managers, purchasing agents, and elected officials.

Self-motivated, goal-driven, and comfortable working independently or as part of a team in a competitive bidding environment.

Professional, ethical, and dedicated to long-term client success in the public sector.

Problem-solver who embraces challenges such as complex specifications, tight budgets, and strict compliance requirements while delivering results.
