Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or a related discipline applicable to teaching.
Certification/License:
Ohio License Pre K‑3, Ohio License K‑8;
Ohio Reading Endorsement preferred; 4/5 Generalist preferred.
Previous teaching experience at the appropriate grade levels is a plus.
Position PurposeUnder the general supervision of the School Principal, facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district‑approved curriculum, documenting student progress, addressing individual student needs, and creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment. Provide feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations and goals.
Essential Functions- Develop and administer elementary curriculum consistent with district goals.
- Promote a safe classroom environment conducive to individualized and small group instruction.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and transform them into learning experiences that maximize instructional time.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning and modify instruction to fit individual needs, including students with special needs.
- Instruct students in responsible citizenship and required subject matter, following applicable laws and school regulations.
- Continuously acquire professional knowledge by attending seminars, workshops or conducting research.
- Maintain accurate record‑keeping, grading and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance per district procedures and laws.
- Encourage parental involvement and maintain effective communication with students and parents.
- Ensure student conduct aligns with school and district policies, establishing and maintaining standards of behavior.
- Coordinate with other elementary staff to evaluate and assess curriculum; participate in faculty meetings and committees.
- Select and requisition appropriate instructional supplies; maintain inventory records.
- Supervise students during off‑classroom activities, including school transportation.
- Administer standardized tests following district testing programs.
Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and central office administrators, as directed by the Superintendent.
EquipmentStandard office equipment such as personal computers, printers, copy machines, fax machines and telephone.
Travel RequirementsTravel to district buildings and attend professional meetings as required.
Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy; differentiates instruction based on student learning styles.
- Knowledge of elementary school curriculum and concepts.
- Knowledge of data systems, data analysis and formulation of action plans.
- Knowledge of federal and state education laws.
- Ability to use computer networks and software applications.
- Ability to organize and coordinate work.
- Effective communication with students and parents.
- Self‑evaluation for professional growth.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others during work.
Work in standard office and school building environments.
