Forklift Operator – Outdoor Yard and Production Support (Day Shift)
This role focuses on safely transporting finished materials from production lines to yard inventory using a forklift, while working primarily outdoors. The position also includes cross-training in production tasks to provide coverage when team members are absent, ensuring smooth and continuous operations across the facility.
Responsibilities- Transport finished materials from production lines to designated inventory locations in the yard using a forklift.
- Operate a forklift safely and efficiently in an outdoor environment for the majority of the shift.
- Load and unload materials and products as needed to support production and yard operations.
- Cross-train in production tasks and machine operation to provide coverage for associates who are absent or when additional support is needed.
- Assist with basic assembly or production-related activities as directed by supervisors.
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while operating equipment and moving materials.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, both in the yard and production spaces.
- Inspect forklift and related equipment before use and report any maintenance or safety concerns.
- Work effectively as part of a team to meet production and inventory goals.
- Adapt to changing priorities and tasks based on operational needs throughout the shift.
- At least 1 year of forklift operating experience in a work environment.
- At least 1 year of outdoor work experience, comfortable working outside for extended periods.
- Experience with loading and unloading materials using a forklift or similar equipment.
- Ability to operate machinery and equipment safely and follow established procedures.
- Capacity to work in a physically active role, including standing, walking, and moving materials throughout the shift.
- Willingness to cross-train in production and assembly tasks and support different areas as needed.
Skills & Qualifications
- Approximately 6 months of production experience is a plus.
- Approximately 6 months of machine operation experience is a plus.
- Experience working in environments that may be cramped or have scrap material present.
- Comfort working in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and wind.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills to coordinate with production and yard staff.
- Attention to detail when handling materials and documenting inventory movements.

Work EnvironmentThe work environment is predominantly outdoors, with approximately 90% of time spent in the yard operating a forklift in all weather conditions. Employees should be prepared to work in varying climates, including hot, cold, wet, or windy conditions. Indoor production areas are not climate controlled and may become cramped when scrap material accumulates, requiring awareness and safe movement in tighter spaces.
The role involves active, hands-on work around machinery and materials, with a strong emphasis on safety and collaboration.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of London, OH.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.25 - $21.50/hr.
