- Admiralty Arch is seeking a Barback
- Whiskey and Seaweed by Clare Smyth to join the pre‑opening team for this highly anticipated new luxury hotel opening later this year.
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced luxury hotelier to join the founding team and help shape the guest experience at this landmark hotel.
Located at the end of The Mall opposite Buckingham Palace, Waldorf Astoria London – Admiralty Arch will feature 100 elegant rooms and suites and 17,500 sqft of private residences. The hotel will open with two signature restaurants – Coreus by Clare Smyth and Café Boulud by Daniel Boulud – bringing together two of the world’s most celebrated Michelin‑starred chefs. Guests will also enjoy a world‑class spa, state‑of‑the‑art fitness facilities, and a collection of grand event spaces, including a ballroom for up to 320 guests.
We are looking for hospitality professionals who are passionate about delivering an exceptional five‑star guest experience, consistently upholding the world‑class service standards recognised by Forbes.
Here’s what you’ll do during a typical dayAs a Barback – Whiskey and Seaweed by Clare Smyth, you will play a vital behind‑the‑scenes role in supporting the flawless operation of one of the hotel’s most distinctive bar venues. Working in close partnership with bartenders, you will ensure every service moment is underpinned by meticulous preparation, organisation, and attention to detail—enabling a seamless, elevated guest experience.
- Retrieving beverage and operational supplies from storerooms, verifying stock accurately against requisitions
- Preparing the bar ahead of service by cutting, slicing, and peeling fresh garnishes; mixing juices; and storing back‑up supplies in approved containers
- Supporting bartenders by stocking and replenishing all bar essentials, including glassware, ice, garnishes, mixers, paper products, condiments, straws, and stirrers
- Transporting taps, changing beer kegs, and performing routine maintenance to ensure smooth and uninterrupted service
- Maintaining immaculate cleanliness and organisation across all bar areas, beer lockers, refrigerators, and storage spaces
- Ensuring full compliance with federal, state, local, and company hygiene, safety, and operational standards at all times
- A positive, proactive attitude with a strong work ethic
- Clear and professional communication skills
- A genuine commitment to supporting exceptional, luxury‑level service
- Impeccable grooming and personal presentation
- Flexibility and resilience within a fast‑paced, high‑volume luxury environment
- The ability to work confidently both independently and as part of a cohesive team
- Previous experience as a barback within a luxury hospitality environment is highly desirable
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations
- The physical ability to lift, carry, and transport items weighing up to 50 lbs safely through service areas
