The UCL Institute of Ophthalmology, in partnership with Moorfields Eye Hospital, is a world-leading centre for eye health research. This role is funded by a Moorfields Eye Charity Springboard Award titled "Genetically-guided therapeutic and preventative strategies for glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy." The project aims to bridge the "translation gap" in common blinding diseases by converting genetic data into clinically actionable insights.

You will join a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team focusing on translational genetics and causal inference.

About the role

To execute the Mendelian Randomisation (MR) analyses for two key work packages:
Glaucoma (Aim
1) and Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) (Aim
2). The post holder will combine statistical genetics expertise with clinical ophthalmic knowledge to develop high-throughput analytical pipelines. These pipelines will be used to identify novel, high-confidence therapeutic targets for glaucoma and to investigate the causal relationship between UV exposure and AMD risk. The post is 0.25 FTE for 12 months. Interviews will be held on Monday 2nd March 2026
