ABOUT

THE ROLE

We’re hiring a hands‑on Lab Technician to keep our labs running smoothly and to support reliable, high‑quality experimental work. You’ll combine excellent lab housekeeping with careful documentation, inventory, and equipment upkeep, and day‑to‑day experimental support.

We are unable to sponsor visas for this position. Candidates must possess the full right to work in the UK.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist research workflows with sample handling and preparation, simple assays, and basic cell culture tasks under supervision and using aseptic technique.
  • Prepare common solutions and media. Dispense, label, and aliquot according to SOPs.
  • Support equipment upkeep: book calibrations, arrange maintenance, and perform basic checks before and after service.
  • Maintain accurate records in ELN or LIMS. File MSDS, log calibrations, track lots and expiry dates.
  • Support deliveries to internal stakeholders and coordinate with scientists on daily priorities. Process laboratory deliveries, including receipt, storage, and communication with relevant teams.
  • Wash, sterilise, and organise glassware and reusable labware.
  • Clean and disinfect equipment and shared lab areas to a defined schedule, such as incubators and water baths.
  • Manage waste streams and disposal in line with COSHH and local regulations, including biological, chemical, sharps, and autoclave waste.
  • Manage inventory and maintain stocks for materials needed for ongoing research projects, ensuring all resources are readily available and accounted for, minimising operational downtime.
  • Monitor and restock consumables, reagents, and gases. Keep storage locations tidy and up to date in inventory records.
  • Receive deliveries, book in items, label and store appropriately. Coordinate outgoing shipments.
  • Uphold safety culture and compliance with SOPs, GLP expectations, and risk assessments.
