This salary will be increased to £28,860 after April 1st 2026
The role of Handyperson with Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our community's most vulnerable members. We're looking for a skilled individual who can provide responsive and small repairs handyperson services to elderly, disabled, or otherwise vulnerable people across all tenures, ensuring compliance with relevant procedures and Health & Safety legislation.
Key Responsibilities:
Programming, installing, and servicing Community Alarms and Assistive Technology equipment, with thorough customer guidance on operation.
Conducting Home Fire Safety Checks and installing Smoke detectors as directed by the Fire and Rescue service.
Installing equipment for Domestic Violence Customers provided by the Community Safety partnership.
Collaborating with local authorities and partner agencies on various projects.
Adhering to Fire & Rescue Guidance on Driving DFRS Vehicles and maintaining accurate mileage records.
Being accountable for Trade Card usage.
Identifying areas for improvement, implementing changes, and providing necessary feedback.
Working collaboratively with colleagues to enhance service effectiveness.
Essentials for the role:
Full clean UK driving license is essential
Skills-based experience and training, ideally from a full craft apprenticeship.
Flexibility to work occasional extra hours when required.
Willingness to undertake trade and personal development training as requested.
Have an established trade background.
To meet our commitment to providing safe, high quality services to our customers we will complete a Standard level background check with the Disclosure and Barring service, once an offer of employment is made which is paid for by MTVH. You will also be added to the DBS updating service which will be renewed every 3 years.
