Overview
As our Driver Technician Trainee 7.5t, you will be supported through a 3-month trainee programme to become a fully qualified John Lewis Customer Delivery Technician with a C1 driving licence. Once you're fully trained, you'll have the opportunity to bring our John Lewis service to customers' doors and install products they love into their homes (such as furniture, large electrical appliances, sound systems and TV sets) as part of a 2-person delivery crew.
Due to the nature of the role, we require all applicants to be 18 or over by their start date.
- Being an ambassador for the John Lewis brand with great customer service as a top priority.
- Perform daily checks and assist in loading the vehicle with daily deliveries, coordinating with the warehouse team.
- Show respect and courtesy for the customer's home, and handle unexpected situations to find the best possible solution for customers.
- Install various products (including wall-mount TVs, integrated appliances, and hard-wired appliance installations) efficiently and demonstrate how they work after installation.
- Stay up to date with new products and technologies to perform the role effectively.
- Adhere to all legal driving regulations, including the Working Time Directive and EU regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
- Note that completion of the 90-day programme will be based on the individual’s input and may vary based on training needs.
- This role involves heavy lifting: spending time delivering large items such as sofas, white goods, sports equipment, furniture, beds, and mattresses.
- UK B-Category manual driving licence with no more than 6 points.
- Previous experience in a customer-facing role.
- Strong verbal communication skills, both over the phone and in person.
- Good understanding of technology and an interest in installation.
- Prior experience in installation and customer delivery services.
- Previous team leader or role model experience.
