The Role
The Senior Service & Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring the ongoing reliability, performance and compliance of live fire and security systems across the company's client portfolio.
The role focuses on planned preventative maintenance, advanced fault diagnosis, and the resolution of complex or recurring technical issues across CCTV, access control, intruder alarm and fire detection systems.
Working independently across multiple client sites, the engineer will take ownership of servicing activities from initial investigation through to full resolution, ensuring systems remain fully operational and compliant with relevant British Standards and service level agreements.
This is a senior technical role requiring strong diagnostic capability, sound engineering judgement and consistent delivery of high-quality service work. While the role does not involve direct people management, it requires a high degree of accountability, autonomy and technical leadership in the field.
The position plays a critical role in maintaining system integrity, reducing operational downtime and supporting long-term client relationships through dependable, professional service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Service & Maintenance Engineer, you will:
Take ownership of planned preventative maintenance programmes across fire and security systems, ensuring systems remain compliant, reliable and fully operational.
Respond to and resolve complex reactive service issues, restoring system functionality within agreed service level agreements.
Diagnose and repair faults across CCTV, access control, intruder alarm and fire detection systems, including repeat or technically complex failures.
Conduct root cause analysis of recurring service issues and implement long-term technical solutions to reduce repeat call-outs.
Carry out equipment repair, replacement and recommissioning in line with manufacturer specifications and relevant British Standards.
Maintain accurate service documentation, reports and certifications, ensuring records remain complete and audit-ready.
Coordinate closely with the service coordination team to plan and prioritise service activities across multiple sites.
Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health and safety requirements, company procedures and industry regulations.
Skills & Experience Required
Proven experience servicing and maintaining electronic security systems within commercial or enterprise environments.
Strong technical knowledge of CCTV, access control, intruder alarm and fire detection systems.
Experience diagnosing complex or recurring faults and implementing long-term solutions.
Familiarity with relevant British Standards and compliance requirements.
Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
Ability to work independently across multiple sites while maintaining high service standards.
Full UK driving licence.
