The Master Carpenter role is a contract, on-site position based in London. Day-to-day responsibilities include executing high-end carpentry and joinery work, from initial framing to precise finish carpentry on luxury residential and commercial projects. The role involves reading and interpreting technical drawings, measuring and cutting materials, and using hand and power tools to complete installations to exacting standards. The Master Carpenter will collaborate with project managers, site teams, and other trades to meet project timelines while maintaining safety, quality, and cleanliness on site.
This position also requires troubleshooting on complex installations and mentoring less experienced carpenters when needed.
- Strong carpentry and finish carpentry skills, including precise installation and high-end detailing.
- Proficient use of power tools and hand tools, with a strong focus on safety and tool maintenance.
- Solid experience with framing, structural work, and site-based installations.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, plans, and specifications accurately.
- Proven experience in luxury residential or commercial projects, ideally with high-end joinery.
- Excellent attention to detail, problem‑solving skills, and commitment to craftsmanship.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work collaboratively with diverse site teams and stakeholders.
- Relevant trade qualifications or apprenticeship in carpentry or joinery; professional certifications are an advantage.
