The Opportunity

Are you an experienced vehicle technician who enjoys variety in your work and takes pride in keeping essential transport fleets operating safely and efficiently?

A well-established transport and logistics organisation is looking to recruit a Mechanical / Electrical Workshop Technician to join its busy workshop team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled mechanic with experience across HGVs, buses, coaches, vans, electric vehicles, and fleet maintenance.

The Role

You will be responsible for carrying out maintenance, inspections, repairs, and refurbishment work on a diverse fleet of vehicles while ensuring the highest standards of safety, compliance, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform servicing, maintenance, and repairs on HGVs, buses, coaches, vans, cars, and EVs.
  • Diagnose and rectify mechanical and electrical faults.
  • Carry out MOT preparation work and vehicle inspections.
  • Complete bodywork, chassis repairs, accident damage repairs, and minor welding tasks.
  • Maintain and install electrical systems including lighting, charging, and starting systems.
  • Work safely and efficiently to minimise vehicle downtime.
  • Accurately complete workshop documentation and utilise workshop systems.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased workshop efficiency.
  • Deliver excellent service to internal and external customers.
What We’re Looking For
  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in HGV/PSV Maintenance & Repair
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar mechanic/technician role
  • Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills
  • Experience working on HGVs, buses, coaches, or commercial vehicles
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable
  • IRTEC PSV Inspection Accreditation
  • HGV or PCV Licence
  • Bus and Coach maintenance experience
  • Recognised apprenticeship within an HGV/PCV workshop environment
